Butterfly Count 2016 - Update

Hi everyone, and thank you so much for participating in the East Bay count back on June 25th.

If you participated and have not sent us your data, please do so now.
We are trying to compile all the East Bay data prior to the next count on July 23rd (West Bay locations).

The above photo is from the (idyllic) count on Prudence Island on June 25th - many thanks to Maureen for leading this year's count!

The next counts will be held on July 23rd at West Bay locations.

You can join an Audubon-led count OR just do your own count (aka private) and send us the information.  Just be sure to register first!

Audubon-led Counts will be held at the following locations.  All counts will begin at 10:00 and run until noon or so.  The fee for participating in one of these counts is $5.00.   (Papyable to the count leader or send a check to ASRI at 12 Sanderson Road, Smithfield, RI 02917) This fee is passed on to the North American Butterfly Association (NABA) to support their work and have your name and data included in their annual report.
  • Audubon Powder Mill Ledges Refuge, 12 Sanderson Road, Smithfield
  • Audubon Fisherville Brook Wildlife Refuge, Pardon Joslin Road, Exeter
  • Trustom Pond, 1040 Matunuck Schoolhouse Road, South Kingstown
Experienced naturalists will lead you into the field and teach you how to identify and record butterfly sightings.  No experience is necessary!  This event is part of the North American Butterfly Association’s (NABA) annual survey of butterflies.  Be sure to bring snacks, water and sunscreen.  Please be prepared to tromp through fields so long pants and closed-toe shoes are required.

Following is a link to our registration page.

See you in the fields!
