Sign up for Rhode Island's annual NABA Butterfly Count! At this event, butterfly enthusiasts identify and count all the butterflies they can in a single day. Results help us learn more about butterfly ecology in our state; see our 2012 Butterfly Report. Beginners and experts alike are welcome to join one of our naturalist-led teams for $6/Audubon member and $8/non-member. See list of sites and dates below. Come prepared with water, snacks, sun/tick protection and good shoes for the trail! Check our out Butterfly ID Slideshow and some of the resource links in the lower left sidebar if you want to get a refresher or a head start on butterfly identification.

If you are a confident butterflier and would like to survey on your own, you can participate for $3 for each count date you participate in. You will need instructions for the count, the map of survey areas, and a butterfly count checklist. You will also need to contact July Lewis at butterfly@asri.org to confirm your site.
ALL NATURALIST-LED TEAMS MEET at 10 AM and survey until 12 or 12:30 pm except for the Newman Refuge team, which surveys until 2 PM.
